Every woman needs support in her life, not just for herself, but for her two closest companions as well. Our lovely lady lumps need care, understanding, and a good bra. Women with curves, hear my cry: if you’re too big to need a Wonderbra, a good bra will do wonders.
But imagine what it would be like if disaster separated you from your over-the-shoulder-boulder-holders. If we can put a chicken in every pot, surely we must put a bra on every breast.
To help deserving women reach that goal, The Bra Recyclers began the Bosom Buddies Program. The Bra Recyclers is a textile recycling operation, and through the Bosom Buddies Program, they distribute a portion of all recycled bras to community services that help women. Based in Arizona, the program is designed to provide recycled bras to women and girls who are facing challenges and are unable obtain the “bare” necessities.
Their mission is to grow to become an international program of recycling by those who have, to give to those in need. Many local women’s shelters and transitional housing facilities provide women and girls with clothes, but often there is a shortage of undergarments. Breast cancer support groups also try to provide survivors with bras. Through The Bra Recyclers, you can send your old bras to be recycled and to be distributed to women in need.
Like our bodies, our bra size can change, fluctuate, and grow, necessitating buying new bras. Or in many cases, we buy bras that don’t fit because we don’t know our true size, and they end up sitting in our dresser drawers. Eliminate the waste by sending those bras out into the world to do good and help others.
Start by getting sized by a professional. Often, women find bras uncomfortable because they’re wearing the wrong size. Go through your drawers and separate out the bras that aren’t your size (believe me, your girls will thank you). And no, you aren’t going to fit back into that bra if you lose that last five pounds, so don’t be a bra hog.
Make sure the bra is washed and clean. Fill out a form on the bra recyclers’ web site, put your bras into a box or envelope, and send them to:
